The Gateway Symphony Orchestra
Your gateway to the musical arts!

Formed in March, 2007 under the umbrella of the Gateway Center for the Arts, the Gateway Orchestra is the premier community orchestra serving Southwest Volusia County and the surrounding communities.   The orchestra musician skills and experience range from hobbyist to professional with varied business backgrounds from grocery store clerk to former violinist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.  Regardless of education and daily career responsibilities our musicians all share the common bond of a love for music.

As musicians we all love to rehearse and perfect our skills, but the goal we all strive for is to share our passion and love of music with the community.  The Gateway Orchestra repertoire of music includes the classics, pops, Broadway, film, jazz, “big band” and holiday arrangements.

Annual performances have included patriotic 4th of July concerts, Winter Holiday concerts, Razz Ma Tazz Gateway Center for the Arts Fundraiser Event and the Gateway Center for the Arts Haunted Hike.

The Gateway Orchestra is directed by Frankie Valadaros who has been a performer and educator for over twenty years.  Frank has performed with such jazz greats as Maynard Ferguson, Arturo Sandoval, Bill Watrous, Ed Calle, Jon Faddis, Clark Terry, Slide Hampton, Bob Mintzer, the late Nick Brignola, to name a few… He has performed at such prestigious venues as the Boston Globe Jazz Festival, the Saratoga Springs Jazz Festival, the Newport Jazz Festival and Carnegie Hall. His musical compositions and arrangements have been performed by the San Francisco Symphony, and Boston Metropolitan Orchestra, to name a few.  Frank is also the music director and trumpet soloist for the Ryles Jazz Orchestra (the house big band for Boston’s famed Ryles Jazz Club). In addition to our beautiful new home at the Gateway Center for the Arts, the orchestra has also performed at:

·      Clock Tower in Sanford

·      DeBary Town Hall

·      DeBary Gazebo

·      Orange City Library

·      DeBary Golf and Country Club

·      Deltona Library

The Gateway Orchestra includes many chamber ensembles that share their unique talents with the community at local festivals and community events.  The Orchestra also includes a jazz band ensemble that performs many of the songs of the Glenn Miller era.

We are always looking for new members. All you need to join us is to have your own instrument, intermediate or above skill level, proficiency in sight-reading, and a willingness to share your talents with your fellow musicians and with the community.

Questions about the orchestra, becoming a member or want to book the orchestra for your upcoming event? Please call us at 386-668-5553.
